Pilgrims are welcome, and are asked to write or call ahead. Overnight accomodations are available for women. Women may also come to stay for a period to help with the work of the monastery as a pilgrim-worker, abiding by the rules of the monastery.
The Russian Convent of Our Lady of Vladimir was founded in 1948. The nuns maintain three churches. They operate a Russian grade school, print and publish books, supply city parishes with prosphoras (altar breads), and manufacture candles. Services are in Slavonic. Vigil services are held on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Friday evenings at 5:30pm. The Hours and Divine Liturgy are celebrated on Sunday starting at 9:30am, Monday thru Wednesday and Saturday at 8:00am. Reader services are held on Thursdays and Fridays. There were 20 nuns in residence in 1985.
The monastery has a Skete in honor of St. Seraphim of Sarov in Moss Beach, CA, about 30 minutes north of San Francisco on Highway 1. It is generally not open for visitation without calling the monastery first. There are 1-2 pilgrimages and conferences each year and occasional study groups. The monastery maintains a mailing list for those interested in participating.
