There is a new website that contains an interview with a monk from one of Elder Ephraim's monasteries. This is the monk whose parents have been very vocal on the internet and labeling Geronta Ephraim as a cult leader. Their published letters have been used to give the impression that the monasteries of Fr. Ephraim are cult-like and encourage an unhealthy spirituality.
This article provides an excellent explanation and history of the controversy about these monasteries. The words of the monk who has been a focus of efforts to brand these monasteries as cults are well worth reading by anyone interested in a genuine monastic witness in the US.
