Visitation Information

Visitors are welcome to come from 8:00AM -to- 1:00PM, and from 4:00PM -to- 7:00PM, as well as for all Church services. All are welcome to participate in our church services, but according to the rules of the Holy Orthodox Church, only Orthodox Christians may be inside the Church during a service. Those of other denominations are asked to participate from the Narthex.

Directions to the monastery:

Take Highway 99 to Fresno. Exit at Highway 180 East (Ventura Blvd/Kings Canyon Hwy). Follow Highway 180 for about 18 miles to Minkler. Turn left towards Squaw Valley/Kings Canyon Park on 180. Do not go towards Reedly! Continue another 20 miles (about 5 miles past Squaw Valley) to Dunlap. Turn right onto Dunlap Road. Follow road for about 3 miles to the large blue sign St. Nicholas Ranch & Retreat Center. Follow the private road for about 1/2 mile. Turn right into the gate of the monastery (marked with a sign).

About the Monastery

The Holy Monastery of the Theotokos the Life-Giving Spring is located in Dunlap, California near the St. Nicholas Ranch and Retreat Center. It was established in 1993 by His Grace Bishop Anthony with the assistance of Father Ephraim of Mt. Athos, who brought the first two nuns from the Holy Monastery of the Archangel Michael in Greece. The monastery was named after the Historic Theotokos the Life-Giving Spring Monastery and Shrine in Constantinople. Currently housed in a remodeled residence on the Ranch property, a complete monastic complex is planned.

Daily Cycle of services:
6:00AM -to- 7:00AM -- Orthros (Matins)
8:00AM -to- 9:45AM -- Divine Liturgy on Thursdays. (Other days subject to availability of clergy)
12:30PM -to- 1:00PM -- Paraclesis
4:00PM -to- 5:00PM -- Ninth Hour and Vespers
7:30PM -to- 8:00PM -- Small Compline
