Located at the foot of Mount Moses, St. Catherine's Monastery was constructed by order of the Emperor Justinian between 527 and 565. It is built on what is believed to be the location of Moses' Burning Bush, and has a dedicated chapel built atop it. It is one of the oldest continuous Christian monasteries in existance today. It is the only Christian monastery with an Islamic mosque built on the premises.
