The monastery is open to visitors, but housing is available for men only. Motel accomodations are available nearby. The monastic tradition of three days is adhered to. An annual pilgrimage is held in October.
The monastery is located two and a half miles north of Resaca on US Highway 41, just off Interstate 75 (exit 132, 133, or 134).
Overnight accomodations are limited and reservations are required.
The Monastery of the Glorious Ascension is situated on 43 acres of wooded rural land in northwest Georgia, about 25 miles south of Chattanooga, Tennessee. There are five monks (3 priests and 1 deacon) and seven novices in residence. Services follow the Athonite time schedule.
The monks publish a magazine called The Harvest . They make hand-dipped beeswax candles and also offer incense, burial shrouds and communion cloths for sale.
