Pilgrims and visitors are encouraged to visit the Mission-Parish south of Rochester, NY or ROCOR's Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, NY. At either location you are asked to dress modestly, attend services in a respectful and solemn manner befitting the monastic atmosphere of the community.

About the Monastery

St. John was established on 8 November 1998 (o.s.) in memory of the holy Elder Theodore, schema-Bishop, wonderworker, clarivoyant, monk of Valaam & Pskov Caves. He labored for Christ's Love in Western Europe, Alaska, Mexico, Texas and in New Jersey where he reposed at Holy Name Abbey. Having St. John the Divine as it heavenly patron, the St. John Kellion takes especial counsel in the writings of this Beloved Disciple and Evangelist.

Divine Services are celebrated according to the Sarum Use of the ancient Roman rite as practiced by the pre-Schism Church of England. The monastic life is guided and directed according to the Holy Rule of St. Benedict of Nursia. The monks are self-supporting through outside sources.

The Apostolate

Nastati Institute for Orthodox Pastoral Studies is a research center under the auspices of the Hermitage of St. John the Theologian (USA). Nastati (Serbian for "emerge") labors are primarily for the investigation in the Patristic Writers for the contemporary development and elucidation of what we expect to be an ancient and genuine Orthodox Christian Psychology and its own therapy. Secondarily, Nastati Institute concerns itself with the pastoral role of all clergy, monastics and laity delivering Pastoral Care with compassion, precise and quality that marks our Love for God in all settings. For more details regarding The Nastati Institute for Orthodox Christian Pastoral Studies see web links below.

The Gregorian Fellowship for Orthodox Christian Psychology -- a professional association of Orthodox Christian clergy, monastics and laity who wish to dedicate themselves to the full expression of a genuine Orthodox Christian Psychology (instead of applying secular psychological sciences to the Orthodox situation). The Gregorian Fellowship -- under the spiritual protection of Saint Gregory of Nyssa -- is currently in its formative stage. The fellowship is actively seeking members in the fields of patristic theology, mental health and spiritual direction. To enroll contact the Nastati Institute nastati (at) kellion.org.
