Located across from a nature preserve in the mountains of Southern California, St James Monastery was born out of the prayers of the Claypools, a married couple who are iconographers. After extensive vandalism, the facilities are being rebuilt on a larger scale. The Claypools no longer live at the facilities, but still own them and hope to eventually establish a monastic presence once required improvements to the property can be made. A long term goal will be to establish a retirement home for priests and their wives and a school K thru 12. Rev. Fr. John is the pastor of St. James Church in Running Springs, CA.
