About the Monastery

The Abbey of the Holy Name is the site of the Archdiocesan Offices of the Archdiocese of New York and New Jersey and all Eastern United States and Canada. It is also home of St. Gregory's Press which is engaged in "Liturgical Publishing of the Ancient Catholic Rites of the West for the Orthodox Churches". It is the publisher of the monumental works of the The Medieval Monastic Psalter of Orthodox England according to the typicon of St. Benedict of Nursia.

The Abbey celebrates according to the Old Sarum Rite as practiced by the pre-Schism Church of England. The monks are all engaged in the mission field pastoring and administrating missions, parishes or establishing new mission-parishes. There are a few hermitages throughout the Eastern United States which are dependencies of the Abbey.

Within the Archdiocese there are parishes, missions and monasteries of either Byzantine or Sarum rite practice, all within the context of Traditional Orthodoxy.
